Yuji Inoue’s solo project. Inoue started to produce music from 1998. He toured with Bogdan Raczynski(Rephlex label) and CEX (Tigerbeat 6) in Japan, and released the card-shaped CD single “not concept01” on the Young-Z label which was predecessor to the ROMZ label. He produced tracks for 3D computer graphics artist Ayumi Sasaki’s visual pieces in 2001. In 2002, he supported the Japan tour of GEL and DISCOM. He composed pieces for contemporary dance company “Study of Live work Baneto” and their project “How to enjoy him/her”, and did a realtime PA with the dance company for the Tokyo performance. He also composed a piece for the opening visuals of the 3rd World Water Forum. “WYHIWYG” is his full length release. Having collaborated with numerous visual artists and contemporary dance companies in the past, this is his first collection of music. Processing and dissecting the sounds of various acoustic instruments, the human voice, and field recordings, the strange but sublime pieces he creates are a testament to his amazing arrangement skills and his experimental approach to composition. His music is both delicate and bold, hedonistic and stoic, and his sound design is at times even sensual. Crudeness and beauty melt together in this alchemy of sound. |
