  Born in Preston Lancashire 31/12/1976.

“I started consciously taking picture at Blackpool College (1993-95) when I was about 16. The first images that I considered, beyond the abilities of a camera for purely recording a scene, were taking in Preston (North West of England). From then on I realised photographic images, had the ability to influence the way a person or situation is perceived consequently.

I went from Blackpool College to Camberwell to study Graphic Design (1995-98); I was tutored there in photography by Simon Larbalestier. I think in particular he impressed on me not to be too precious, to shoot all the time and reshoot if you are not entirely happy. Another tutor to influence my attitude to work was Scott King2 , as Art Director of i-D, Designer and Artist he was highly critical and did not shy away from giving me honest opinions about my work weather I cared or not. I soon realised the practice of taking pictures for design project far outweighed the process of design itself and with the help of Scott, Simon and Les Bicknell3 managed to persuade my other tutors to leave me to my own devices until I graduated in 1998.

It was when I started to include my interest in music that I realised I could use photography to gain access to the people I had been listening to and the places I wanted to go. If I couldn’t sing or play an instrument (which I can not) I would become apart of the scene another way. I had been going out in London a lot since I moved there in 95 so I started shooting bands and club nights in London. After a while I was photographing musicians all over England. I kept in touch with Scott and when he became art director for Sleaze nation he asked me to photograph bands for them. Along with bands I started photographing actors, designers, artists and a whole range of creative people often in there own homes or places they feel comfortable.

I have worked for numerous magazines and shot for numerous clients and will continue to work on images for my own and others interests. I try to find who the people I am photographing are at that precise moment in time, weather that be a band just come straight from a stage bewildered and sweaty or a musician so in love with their sound they can play with the same pation to horses in a field.”
